Default Overheating Issues...

Ok My car will start to get hot after about 15-25 mins of driving.( SOMETIMES. Well I have replaced the thermostat and the rad. cap. Next on the list is the headgasket. My motor (D16Y8) used to have a turbo set-up before I bought it, and I am told that a turbo motor blows headgaskets more often..???..Another thing that is funny about my "overheating issue" is If I run the heater on low then it never, never, never heats up..Well it gets to normal temp..Also I know for a fact my fan is coming on. Another thing with my car running and the rad. cap off when I give gas the coolant is spayed out the radatior. Which I was told meant my headgasket.?? IS this correct? If you have any Ideas on what is causing my "overheating issue" then please let me know. Thanks for any help that you can provide

Might be your water pump. My car is having that problem also, and i found a leak coming from the water pump. If you don't have a leak, the pump may not be circulating the coolant. I don't know for sure though. Making any funny noises?

Is there any fact to this? I want to know because until I can locate someone around me with a leakdown I can't rule out the possibility mine is blown (naturally praying it isent)
My reason for thinking this is I throw misfire codes occasionally, and even rarer (twice actually) coolant boils/bubbles but no resevoir overflow.

No actually I havent..Could this be a good reason. I also heard you can get air in your cooling system? Is that true?

It could be your main bearings. Check for metal in your oil. That rotating assembly gets hot as hell when those bearings wear out and you will have an overheating problem. Not sure about the head gasket. All turning your heater on does is mask the problem by taking away some of the heat, if it is a nearly stock motor it shouldn't be doing this.

That's a pretty good sign of an unhappy headgasket.

Yea that would suck ballz if that was a problem.. But there is no metal in the oil. About the motor being nearly stock, I am not completey sure about this. It was a TUrbo motor before and i dont know what all was changed.

Also the motor set for a while in a shed uncovered..for about 5 months?

why dont you look at your water pump. There is a bleed hole there. If you see any signs of fluidits your water pump. The water pump doesnt necessarily need to make odd noises. Also check for play on the pump. If thats not it your coolant might be bad. Check the coolant for any discoloration or any metallic pieces floating in it. If its not that. Then sorry bro... cant help yah!

The water pump is fine and all, no sings of coolant leak from there. Well hell there is no signs of coolant leak anyhwhere on the motor. I am think I will just repalce the headgasket and put new coolant and all in the system. Hope then can solve my problem
