Default Making a G2 LS fast..on a budget of both cost and reliability.

My parents blessed me with a 93 a LS to go off to college with, and I was looking to do some performance modifications, trying to get into the high 14 second range as cheap as I can.

I thought about LS/VTEC, but the car has 70k miles on it, and I don't have enough money to do it right.

My plan is this: muffler shop special 2.25" catback, get a B18B head off of the parts trader (bigger ports), have it milled to raise my compression, some crower cams and springs, and a K&N.

On top that, I will attempt to trade my current tranny straight up or with cash for a b16 tranny.

So all in all, who thinks this is a good idea? yay or nay? Anything to add? Will I run 14's on street tires? That is my goal. I cannot sell the car, so please do not add this as a suggestion.

Sounds great, you have it well planned out. Since you will have bigger exhaust ports, why not a performance header!?

Suspension comes after that!

B16A tranny would be graet, and 2.25" pipping would be good, but 2.5 you would get more top end. ever thought about getting a Vtec head??? it'll rip

not to be a dick, but do you see the phrase LS/VTEC in caps on the original post? I would, but money is tight.

How high can I raise compression with milling/gaskets on a b18a block with a b18b head?

Header can't be far behind, what is good for an LS? JDM 4-1?

the jdm 98 spec type R is pretty good for the B series Vtec motors, but i don't know about on a LS. umm have you ever thought about going B16A in your car?
it'll be pretty dope... popping vtec
about you compression. i wouldn't say mill the head or go with the single layer head gasket. because one you mill it you can never go back. if you want high compression, just do it once and do it right, go with pistons. the highest compression you can go is probably 12:1 C/R on pump gas.

well good luck let me know what you think... maybe i can help
