Default Idling problem

Everything use to be cool untill 1 morning I started my car and it didn't want to idle. I would have to give it gas for literally 2minutes or so. If I was to let it go it would just die. When the motor is warm and i'm driving and get out of gear or push the clutch in it will idle at 1500 untill I come to a stop then just idle real low like 500-600 rpm, sometimes it'll die. What can cause this problem?

If you're talking about your '91, then try cleaning your FITV, too. Then maybe check your base idle.

Your '91 ECU & IACV are probably programmed to work together with an FITV.

But that doesn't explain the low idle & stalling after it's warmed up. That part sounds like your AICV & base idle. You've already cleaned your IACV, so I guess the next thing is to adjust the base idle.

BTW, how old are your spark plugs, wires, cap, & rotor?

</TD></TR></TABLE> i'm using a chipped p28 ecu. If I adjust the base idle to go higher, when I get out of gear it would rev to like 2k rpm and then drop down when I stop. What can cause the rpm to raise and then drop down when the car isn't rolling?

By 'base idle', I was referring to unplugging the IACV & adjusting idle to 450. The IACV needs to be in the right part of it's control range during operating conditions when it's controlling your idle to 800 or whatever.

I think it's something to do with avoiding overly-rich conditions during over-run. Your ECU is chipped, so ???? Must be someone around here who knows more about that system than I do.
