Default Headstud Q'

Hey, I was looking at my headstuds today *golden eagle and was reading the little peiced of folded paper they give you. It says to have the studs put in by a shop and to not try this unless your are very experienced.

How experienced are they talking? This is my first swap/build and would like to do it right, so when I decide to mount my b16 head to my b18 block...should I take it to a shop? Did you find it hard to do? I will have someone helping me w/ the build.

You tried calling them and ask?

BTW as far as I know from rebuilding Chevy's and one ford engine I know that you hand tighten the head studs themselves before you add the nuts to the head-studs to be torqued to factory specs. I guess they are worried people might apply unnecessary torque load to the head-studs.

That is what was one of my concerns, how tight to tighten them into the block before you add the hardware and torque them?

I know on my last rebuild of a B18 engine I hand tighten the head-studs prior to tighten them again with the nuts to factory specs.

I am just afraid to tighten them too much or not tighten them enough.
