Greddy Gauge Help....
ok my friend has a 1st gen greddy EGT gauge (the one that starts at 300). I sold it to a friend that sold it to him. It worked fine when it came out of my car. When he hooked it up he wired it like this:
Red wire: Cig/Radio Fuse
Black wire: ground to chassis
yellow wire: probe
orange wire: probe
white: lights
now he turned on the car and it jumped to 500-600 n slowly fell to 400-300....when he reved it went to 500....then he turned on his head lights and it went to 600 ot 700 and just sat there didn't move. Do you guys have any idea what could cause this?!?. Please let me know ASAP.

i was thinking bad ground too cause thats the only logical answer to this problem. im going to help him redo it then i will post more info.

Is it the "Warning Meter" series of Greddy EGT gauge? If so, it must have it's own power source, and you have to follow a specific initiation sequence when you power it up for the first time. I have the Air/Fuel Warning Meter.
Find the Greddy manual. It will explain the sequence of events which must happen before the gauge will work properly. And most importantly, don't piggy back the power...and find a solid chassis ground. Here's a pic of my A/F Warning Meter". Is yours like this?

thanks for the reply, but this is about a 52mm EGT gauge, no peak and hold, no warning. considering that it has no peak and hold, i doubt it needs a constant power source. i'd imagine only ignition... the lighting is no problem b/c its working, and ground too i guess, b/c if the ground weren't good, then the lighting wouldnt be working.
with the red, black, and white wires on, when i put the key on ignition, the RED CHECK led is on, and its not supposed to be red. the problem starts when i hook up the 2 probe wires to the gauge.
someone has to know!!!
