Default ECU socket help!!!

I finally got fed up waiting for a friend to install my zif socket to run crome. long story short..... Previously "chipped" P28 so i had to pull that chip out and install the zif. Having problems now that i got zif in. even when i put the same chip that came out back in. solid cel, and running EXTREMLY rich. I cut the J1 jumper and it runs fine. double checked my solder joints and they look fine.

upon closer inspection i noticed C5 and C52 had not been jumped with the capacitors.

unlike

could this be my problem? and if so the next question is why did my previous "chipped" version of my ecu work and my zif socketed version doesnt?

my guess is that the ecu was just running on the stock program, because if any of the parts for an obd1 chipping are left, out, ie jumpers etc, then the ecu just runs on the stock program. so whoever had it "chipped" before was still probably just running on the stock program.

you'd think that makes sense but vtech engagement was 5000 and rev limit was 8000.

Im now thinking the ecu is crap. i had re-cut the J1 so i could run it on the stock program, made it three blocks then it starts running just it did before i cut the jumper.

start shooting me some prices for a pre socketed P28....im probably going to need one soon. arggg!!

so you just pulled out the old chip and pressed the zif socket in there? no soldering from your part?
have you check the zif's legs?

the chipped ecu will work without those caps

sorta....pulled the old chip. de-soldered the holes, put the spacer in, soldered it to the board (top and bottom to be sure), slid the zif in, and put the pre programed chip in (jdm spec P28)

c51 & c52 are not required.
Sounds to me like your DIY soldering job isnt working out too well.
