Default chipped p28 thats got issues

So I purchased a chipped p28 from a member on the board here. He said everything was all good on this ecu. Well I got the ecu and I had my local guy burn me a chip for my jdm gsr. Well everything seemed fine at first. It has good power and everything but the gas mileage was really bad and I noticed it was running kinda rich. Its like the O2 sensor isn't being read by the computer. Well I had another chip burned with obd2 diagnostics on it and it throws code 17. It just comes on as soon as you turn the car on. I borrowed a bone stock p72 ecu and I got 35mpg and no codes so I know everything on my motor and the wiring is flawless. I tried the same chip in another p28 and it worked perfect. It def the ecu. Is there something on the board that could be fried? Maybe I could just fix that?

Did you try that ecu/chip in another car?

If the ecu is working fine with no solid CEL then the ecu should be fine. Open it up to see if anything looks burnt.

Re-read his post. He tried the chip in another ecu & it worked fine, he has diagnosed that he believes the ecu is the issue.

This is why you shouldn't buy used electronics from someone who can't provide a warranty etc. Spend a little more & buy from a reputable retail in the future.

I read it clearly, doesn't hurt to try. Or buy from me for a better price

pretty sure its the ecu. The p72 I used is a known good ecu used for BAR'ing vehicles.

You can ship it to Chris at Xenocron.com Most likely he'll be able to fix it at a good price.

I dunno it sounds expensive. I might call him and ask tho. but my friend gave me an ls ecu for free. I was thinking about just chipping it and converting it myself since I have a electronics soldering iron. xenocron offers everything I need plus an extra stock chip for just over 50 dollars.

It possible any component go bad and not effective function? There 7 aluminum cap but i dont know each function for, in theory wrong signal value will be provide if any cap, resistor each not working in spect and MCU will recived wrong value... Correct me if i wrong. Try to change P28 7 aluminum cap and see anything change better or bad.
