ECU self-diagnostic
Ok. I've searched every forum and found nothing...
Is there a way that I can make the ECU do a diagnostic check myself? My CEL light is on, and I need to see what code it is, but my Chilton service manual doesn't tell me how to do a diagnostic check, it just lists the codes.
I have a 93 Civic CX with 95 B18C1 and P72 ECU.

well for my lude, if you look behind and under the radio there are two different open harnesses. one is blue and one is grey. Take a paper clip and bend it into a "U" and stick it into the blue one and turn on the car (but don't start it). the cel light should blink a certain number of combinations.
short blink= 1
long blink= 10
e.g.: Long blink, long blink, short blink, short blink would equal 22. you might get a number of different codes also.

I think for your car the plug that you need to jump is in the passengers kick panel. The plug should be a two wire blue or green plug (I'm colorblind, can't tell which). Sometimes it's stuck in a little rubber holder thing. Then just go with what the other guy said (paperclip, cel blinks codes)
Your car has a jumper harness in the pass. side kickpanel like said before. There will be a 2 plug connector with a rubber green plug around it. Remaove that and jump the wires together. Watch the cel light and count the codes. short=1 long=10
