troubles doing a self check of my CEL...
so I followed the instructions to check the codes on my 94 ex, and when I pulled back the kick panel I did not find a grey 2 wire plug? I found a blue 2 wire plug with a brown and black wire. I can only assume there is an EK wire harness in the car.
Problem is when I try and jump the plug the CEL comes on and stays on...no blinks? however my SRS light continuously blinks.
any idea what i can do the check the CEL now?

the color of the plug varies, was is stuck in a rubber holder along with a 3 wire plug? if so its the right plug. it may be a bad ecu. also if you find a pinout for the ecu you can do it right at the ecu just to be sure.

You jumped the blue two-wire connector and then turned the key to ON afterward? Do you have a CEL when you just turn the key to ON without starting the motor and without jumping the connector?

It is the correct plug. Let's hope its not a bad ecu. The car drives perfectly, just a random on/off CEL while driving. It goes off after key is cut off.

Its a random CEL its never on when I start the car, or turn on the key. It comes on when I cruise the car w the rpms around 2800-3k. Once I cut off the car, it goes away.

then drive it til it comes on, stop, dont shut it off and jump the connector, while the car is running, it will still flash the code. some honda ecu's will erase it when you shut off. theyre not suposed to but ive found it to happen more often than not.

When I go out to my car and jump the two-pin connector while I do NOT have a CEL on, the CEL light holds on once it's jumped.
Just bring a paperclip with you. Keep it in the glovebox or such and then jump it when the code shows up.
That is the nice thing about the two-pin connector. You can always jump it and you can just it with just about any scrap of wire.
I've had some code scanners that can't be used if the car is on. I even had someone turn their car on when the scan tool was plugged in and te whole screen turned purple.

The car had a boosted gsr in it prior to me buying it. The stock drive train was swapped back in, but the ecu was the only one the guy had, so it was used. It hasn't given me any issues, so I haven't bothered to buy the proper one.
