Default Coolant Temp problem

everytime i turn my heat on, my temp gauge drops. the more heat, the lower the gauge. the air blowing also doesn't get overly hot either. really need to get this fixed for winter. any ideas?

no thermostat will make the engine run hot believe it or not. how many degrees does the engine temp drop. approx. there will be some drop depending on the size of the heater core.

No thermostat will make the engine hot but the coolant cold. Throw a thermostat in for poops and hahas. Pretty common to have one stuck open.

the thermostat is fairly new. i thought that was the problem so i already changed that.

degrees dropped? i don't know, but normally the needle is about 1/8inch below halfway. if the heat's on full, it'll go down well below a quarter.

That still sounds like a stuck thermostat to me. Are you running an aftermarket or OEM thermostat? What kind of car?

its an aftermarket replacement thats supposed to open at the same temp as a stock one. it's in a 95 integra (b18b1, obd1).

could there be an air lock in the heater core or something? i can't figure out why the temp gauge would drop so much when the heat goes on.

does your car overheat? I had this problem and my air would blow cold and it would cause my car to overheat. changed thermostat and nothing. Turned out to be my headgasket. Hopefully this isnt your problem but its something to check out. good luck man
