Broken flywheel bolt
Ok, my friends will never learn. heres a log of the phone call i got today.
"you busy?" - Friend
"No whats up?" - Me
"well we pulled my motor out we need your help" -Friend
"you what?!"-Me
"yea we yanked it, its outside in the driveway right now"-Friend
(long pause) "Why?"
"Its broken"
After further inspection of the situation, there were no tests done on the motor to indicate a problem. (there was a LOUD RATTLING sound comming from somwhere inside the motor. we couldnt pinpoint the problem till we yanked the tranny off) out popped a flywheel bolt when the clutch came off. Now for the question. Pretty much all the bolts holding his clutch AND flywheel on were loose so were going to replace them. Would it be ok to use a little loctite on the bolts when we reinnstall everything. (he is replacing clutch) should he also replace flywheel. the flywheel was wobbly because all the bolts were loose.
Thanks everyone
Joe

Yup me too, I used high temp Permatex (red) and it seems to hold just fine. I would think that the flywheel should be just fine as long as it's not bent or anything. If it's okay then just have it resurfaced. Latez
*raises his hand too*
Happened to me and I'm using stock Lightened flywheel (13 lbs). No probs yet (except for this dang chattery met/fibre sprung 6 puck) I used loctite as well, If you think about it spinning at the engines speed, the bolts stay on there with basic physics. When I over-torqued them I realized they only needed 19 lb/ft!!! That ain't sheet!

k so loctite wont hurt anthing. i thought so.
flywheel looked ok but well get it resurfaced and he needs to replace the clutch so i think that covers everything. Thanks

LocTite shouldn't be an issue. But "if" there is a question, I would invest in the $30 to $50 bucks to get the flywheel rebalanced at the same time. Just so you "know" if you know what I mean.
