Yes, you can run an LS crank in a B16B since LS and B16B(and B18C and B20B/Z) blocks have the same deck height. You would need to run LS length rods. Pistons are your choice, since the pistons from all the aforementioned blocks(as well as B16A) are interchangeable. To calculate your projected CR, use an online calculator like this one:
http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php

You shouldn't have valve to piston clearance issues if you run an OEM VTEC piston(they have larger valve reliefs than OEM non-VTEC pistons) or aftermarket forged pistons(again, they come with larger valve reliefs). It's still a good idea to clay the engine to doublecheck the clearance, especially for larger cams or if you plan on running a lot of cam advance/retard settings.

hey thanks for the info

would such a swap make sense ?

b16b is a great motor .

but i dont rev when i drive ....i hardly ever pull 7500 rpm
so i was thinking about a using the ls crank and some cam gears/ intake to move the power band down . possible ?

or is the ctr cams gonna need the higher rpm ?

what about jus doing an ls/vtec ?

The added displacement would yield more torque and additional power. It would essentially be the same as an LS/VTEC setup as far as displacement goes, but you would have the option of retaining the oil squirters and not have to run an external oil line to the head.

would i be able to also keep the girdle ? or would the crank have clearance problems

someone also told me if i use forged rods eg eagle , crower , srp etc , that they suppose to be able to handle the heat , so i can remove the oil squirters ?
does that make sense ?

Yes, you can also keep the girdle. Yes, you don't technically need the squirters if running forged pistons(they're there to cool the bottoms of the OEM cast pistons, not the rods).

wayy to high for a daily unless you can run c16 daily and a light car. (what car is this going in) a lot of factors in both power and dd ability, do you have a/c, power steering, have a lot of mountains/bridges in your area and mainly the weight of your car. the less weight is the better but a good recommendation is the b16a (pr3) pistons would yield a 11.3

depending on your cams, headwork PnP head etc... and quality of airflow on your header and exhaust 2.5" recommended. power from 195 - 220 give or take on the hp range, but this is considering a well matched set-up. what tranny do you have to go with this? it's a lot of factors G/L with the build

i'm actually doing something very similar, gsr block w/ls crank and b16 pistons on a gsr head and either bc stage 4 or skunk 2 pro 1 cams w a ported intake mani (blox or skunk2) and not quite sure of the header yet maybe a hytech replica or a used smsp etc...

the research i did ...more or less say the oil squirters can remain ...just need to be bent out of the way . ? correct me if i wrong anyone

i think i will stay with a stock ctr head ...and the b16a pr3 was looking more reliable .
just wanted to know if 13.5 was "streetable"

car is an eg hatch. full accessorys NEEDED . car is my dd , so AC and PS is a MUST.

drive train ....act flywheel 12.5 lbs , competition clutch stage 4 kit .
currently i have a cable with hydro conversion .
but i have SiR box to drop in , y80 i think .
looking at getting an s4c , itr box .

gear lenghts ....
i love the gears of the current cable ...well suited to my driving.
SiR ...has a longer 4th ....dont know how this affect driving.
for an NA set up ...what gearing should be looking at if i keeping the revs down to 7500.

Can a Cable Box lsd fit into a SiR BOX ????????

any other comment / suggestion / advice would be appreciated.
thanks guys

not a build yet
just looking at some options.

found an old thread about a build using the ls in a gsr block.
interesting thing was the Golden Eagle Oil block off kit.

anyone have any views good or bad about leaving the oil squirters out when using the forged pistons and rods ?
where the heat goes ?
thanks

need some help with the rods for this build.

CRS5531A3D ...eagle long rod ...do i need pistons with raised wrist pins. Or will standard pistons work .

planning on using this rod for a better R/S.

any input is appreciated
thanks
