Default Aluminum cleaning

Anyone know a good way to clean an engine with out having to take the engine to get sand blasted? I wanna clean a single cam before i put it in the car but not sure which way would be the best ? I have a pressure washer but i know that wont do the trick alone.

Simple Green!
Spray it on, let it sit for about 5-10 mins, then spray the stuff off with a high pressure washer, or a waterhose with a pressure nozzle. Make sure you cover the battery/intake (if aftermarket or exposed) and the distributor (water can get inside the cap).

The only thing that's going to get the corrosion off is going to be sandpaper, or a wire wheel on a drill or something.

Hydrofloric acid, the white corrosion your seeing is calcium. Hydrofloric acid will draw this out and removes it. Its whats referred to as "acid" or "brightner" in commercial vehicle wheel cleaners. You must be very careful with it though, just google and read up. The results are stunning, your motor will look brand new, a very nice shiny natural bright aluminum color, like it just left the factory or a machine shop.

I knew that the corrosion was calcium and I actually bought a liquid drain cleaner that is acid based for the cleaning.

Its not the same as the one your telling me but im pretty sure there has to be somewhere i can get the chemical locally without having to get it from online.

I just did mine.
Simple green and a powerwasher will work.
