cleaning engine compartment
I am wanting to clean the engine compartment in my hybrid and I am wondering what steps i need to take when doing this. I basicly want to know what chemicals to use such as (simple Green) or what ever else. I have a power washer but i am wanting to know if that will be to much pressure for cleaning it. I also want to know if there is any electrical things that I should cover up so that they dont get wet. TIA

Re: cleaning engine compartment (95hybridcivic)
I use simple green too. Castrol super clean on really grimy stuff. I've used engine degreaser on really bad engines but I like simple green, doesn't smell so bad and doesn't strip paint. I've used a pressure washer before, just put a plastic bag and rubber band to hold it over the distributor. That's the most important. If you can blow it off after with compressed air that's a good way to go. I let everything dry before I turn the key on. At least if some electrical stuff gets wet that's not supposed to if you don't put current thru it and it dries it's usually ok. Just a precaution. I've never had an electrical problem from cleaning before.
