aftermarket ignition setup? yes? no?
first lets start with my setup (will be done very soon anyway): 88 CRX, B18A, turbo'ed (somewhere between 6 and 12psi), OBD0 setup, running a Zdyne SECU Gold, 450's, 255 walbro pump, Honda cap/rotor, NGK plugs (stock heat range)....think thats everything in relivents to this...
im thinking of getting a MSD cap, coil (blaster ss), box (6a), etc.... but im not sure it it will be worth the $250 bucks that i will be putting into it. your thoughts and experiances on this would be greatly appresiated...thanks!!

damn! whats up with the gap? i have always run stock plus on my car, ran for 6+months on my ZC with 6's....
i have been reading past posts, btw a SHITLOAD of people selling there setups it seems, getting the same impression that stock is good...

we run stock ignitions up to 450hp without any problem whatsoever.
We could talk about gaps and plugs for days, but I'm just telling what works... the more you turn up your boost the colder the plug and the less the gap should be. At 12psi, this is what I recommend for most any setup.

i know someone that dyno'ed at 300+hp to the wheels on a stock (B16A) heat range NGK plug......
lets start off simple. the colder the plug the less prone to detination right? that why you suggest a colder plug?

coo look what i found: GOD...err NGK has spoken....
you running race gas all the time? OK then, its way better to be safe than sorry!
anytime you increase cylinder psi, you are increasing the possibility of detonation... by going to a colder plug , you help lower this possibility.
I have personally made 330+ hp on a bone stock b16... yes we were running BKR7E-11 plugs and race gas at only 13psi.
The reason you lower the gap on the plug is because higher cylinder psi also tends to "blow out the spark" or "make the coil work harder" so by decreasing the gap you decrease the probability of having ignition problems by allowing the coil to "keep up"
I don't know how to put this any easier.

coo, no need to make it easier im getting it. just want to know why i need to do this, now i understand a lot more...
the BKR7E-11's are not what i should be running in my LS/B18A1 are they? those are for the VTEC motors right?
umm, so this "blow out the spark" or "make the coil work harder" **** is what is making people think they need a aftermarket ingnition crap huh? they think they need more power to bridge the gap...

you can run this plug on any B series head with a turbo or nitrous.
people think that because its being sold, it must make more power! These same people are basically just doing what everybody else does reguardless of what the real deal is.

well we need to spred the truth then
thanks for all your help!!!!!

k, this topic is kinda dead (the fact i have desided to stay stock) but i got a couple more questions about plugs:
the stock B18A1 (90 teg) plug is a BCPR5E11, you where saying to go with a BKR7E11. i know the CP vs K looks to be just bullshit (the 7 is just a hair longer). but that is two heat ranges?!?! or should i just start with a BKR6E11 or BCPR6E11 (stock D16A6 plug btw)???

the BCPR6EY-11 was also a stock plug for many other honda and acuras...
you had several options to choose from on the LS motor from Denso to NGK both with heat ranges in the 5 and 6s as well with most other models and engines other than the GSR, they used the ZFR series plug but also had a heat range option of a 5 or 6.
For anybody with a turbo, I recommend a 7 to be the hotest plug you should ever run. We run 8s and 9s!

Schucks Auto Supply sucks, i dont know what they are smokin, they never have what we need! just some gay ricer ****. they dont even have 7's (special order, $3.59 each)... guess it dont matter, i dont get a discount on plugs anyway... hey does the dealer stock them? or they only have paltinums?
No, the dealer does not stock them... do you have O'reilleys near you they are the cheapest retail store, although they usually don' tstock them, they can get them the same day from the wharehouse. Pep Boys keeps them in stock for $1.99 a plug.
Here is a link to one of the cheapest places on the net in case you don't have either of those 2 stores near you. http://www.monarchproductsinc.com/default.asp

Schucks (checker, kragen depending on location), Pep Boys, GI Joes, think there might be an Autozone about 20 miles away, then there is a couple small places which is probly where i will get them from cuz i know someone that works there but i will probly have to pay $1.99 each...
also onto the gap....what should i gap them with? the 'stock' gap on all those NGK's are .044, what is the best way to lower the gap?? normally i would just 'tap' them on something till its where i want it...
