Default MSD Ignition setup worth it?

I am curious to how many people have ran them with no problems? And if it was worth it, particularly on boost applications, because there always something else to spend money on lol. The car is 20 lbs on a sohc zc non v-tec (built) and the msd setup I've been eyeballing is there cap, rotor, and blaster ss coil. Any input would be appreciated. I've searched already and haven't found but a few problem threads on the and tuning software compatability.

plus: increased throttle response, ability to up fuel and boost safely

negative: ive had a coil go out on me mid-tune, and put the car out.

if you decide to do it , make sure you mount the coil UPRIGHT. otherwise it'll short out. also, my tuner reccomended mounting the ign amp inside the car.

:: knock on wood :: did this in my friend brain's car, and hes been problem free.
changed my setup.... its been good since

alot of people make TONS of power with stock ignitions. stock SHOULD do just fine.

my car, however, started breaking up around 550whp. i put the MSD on and had great results.

540whp @ 21 psi (all things constant but stock ignition)
592 whp @ 22 psi (same things but with the MSD ignition)

it helped me out alot

last year, msd 6al msd cap external blaster ss coil = 520whp b16
10.72 @130 leaving off of msd 2 step

this year same box, same cap and rotor from last year, new coil (but same) = 710whp gsr. more boost. so far 11.20 @ 140 still working on it. other gremlins.

they are good. some people have issues with them, i didnt. if you have no means for launch control, the 6al with the softouch, isnt a bad way to go, i got 8 psi on an 8200 rpm launch. no i am not kidding.

Wow thanks for all the input. I will not be needing a launch controll since I'll be going with neptune and it will have a 2 step set up. Probably won't even use it, but it'll be there incase I want to. So from what I'm reading I'm getting mixed results. I'll probably get flamed for saying this but I found the setup on e-Bay. Come with cap, coil wire, and blaster ss coil for like $90. The rotor is an aditional $15. So the whole setup would be for around $120 shipped. Can I hear of some otheres you think it is or isn't worth it. I'm in awe to see some of the horse power gains just from the setup if I'm looking at Supacharge's post correctly. I have a 6al box laying around but I was told it'd probably be dead weight for the most part since nept tune will take car of most of the things I want. My goal is 400 whp on the sohc zc non v-tec built on 20 lbs or less, but honestly I think I'll only hit 300, which I'll be more than fine with lol. So for the planned horse power of 300-400 do you think it'd be worth the time and money? I don't mind paying it, it doesn't seem that exspensive at all, considering I've had to buy quite a few honda distributors that have gone **** up on me, I just am curious if you all think it'd be something worth throwing into my setup or not.

I apologize for the bad grammar and sentence fluency. I'm a tow truck driver and just got off a 32 hour shift lol. Bare with me please.

i.m.o. if you arent running a box, just use the stock dizzy. if you are using an ign box, use an external coil.

The MSD made James's car break up over 7k and when it was on Evans dyno the pulled it and the misfire went away, MSD is finnicky with certain EMS's, I have it on my car and I think I am going to pul lit for peace of mind.
