My car is on a rough tune right now until I go to Titan on Monday for a real tune. However, when I boost - everything sounds good, and appears good - except a strange noise. When the wastegate opens it sounds like a rattling noise. Boost seems to hold steady, around 5 PSI or so (which is what the wastegate is set for) - but I'm wondering if its just the wastegate valve making the rattling sound.....

Anyone have any ideas, or experience??

 

with just a rough tune, i wouldnt be boosting at all untill you take it in for a full tune. im not really sure what the noise could be.. you might want to check everything to make sure its tight? if its a ratteling noise thats the only think i think it could be.

 

Like does it only do when your under boost? You might be deatonating or pinging.... Stay outta boost till you get it tuned to play it safe instead of possibly blowing your motor...

Well - I don't think its a fuel issue, since my wideband reads around 12 or so when I'm in boost ... I THINK its a wastegate issue. BUT - won't know until Monday when I hit the dyno. Until than I haven't been beating on it, but its hard, since boost builds quite easily!

 

Yea, just stay out of the gas for a little. I know its hard... If that doesnt fix it.. Im sure titan can narrow the problem down.

 

from past expereinces it sounds like a flat tire or someone farting really loud.

 

Check your dumptube, I had the same problem at full boost when my dumptube opened up it would rattle against my down pipe.
