internal wastegate question... 5 PSI
hi there,
if i plan on using the internal wastegate on my garret T25 do i need to run a feed from one of the turbo nipples (if yes, which nipple?) to a vacuum source, i.e. on the inlet manifold. or is this only for external wastegates. At the moment i have the standard actuator hose spliced it in half and placed a boost controller inline. Please can someone tell me if this is correct, ive tried searching but not sure what to put in the search field to get the correct results...

You need to connect the nipple on the wastegate actuator (WGA) to a pressure source. I personally won't use anything but the intake manifold, because that's where I wnt to regulate the pressure. That, however, is a metter of personal preference (or just stupidity
).

I use my charge pipe after the intercooler as a pressure source for my wg...
Hook the wg up to a good dedicated source (intake manifold, charge pipe etc) then just cap off the nipples on the turbo housing...

yes that will be fine....one other reason people attach at the manifold is the pressure drop from the intercooler...
so if they measure the boost level for the wastegate at the intake manifold the turbo wastegate will bump the boost up to stock level at the manifold(5psi for you)
cause if you use the nipple at the turbo housing, you will lose 1-2 psi(depending on intercooler)at the manifold

Not only that, but the losses will be inconsistient depending on conditions.

I have a bit of a hesitation problem with the car around 3800-4200 rpm (when revved it tends to go very lumpy around the specified rev range), could it be anythig to do with the connections on the turbo? The standard actuator hose is in place and I have added a manual boost controller inline and not yet adjusted it.
