Hmmm this is interesting.....tube....what kind of tube? Rubber tube? Plastic tube? Copper tube? A little more info would be awesome!

no man...stainless!! stainless steel can be specified in different forms...tube or pipe

tube = gauge!
pipe = schedule!

I want to use tube but I don't know if that would be too thin? 14 gauge? anyone?

16 guage should be fine, 14 will work too but it may be overkill for a downpipe.

thanks man, i made it for another HT member...its an inlinepro stainless mani, turbosmart WG and its a 2.5" flared to 3" downpipe...flared after the a/c compressor

i got my 3" id pipe from napa, got like 10' straight, 2 90 bends, and 2 45 bends for around $145. took stock off and started welding 3" to match it.

pipe is WAY too heavy for an exhaust... a 3" schedule 40 pipe 6 ft long weighs 150 lbs... tube is definately they way to go.. for exhausts I think the thinner the better (to keep weight down) and it is not load bearing so it doesnt have to be too strong

not thinner the better, remember you need it also strong enough to not rust/rott or crap out on you in a year:

don't go thinner then 16gauge on the downpipe because its very hot there and very prone to scraping the ground. from the oil pan back im going w/ 18gauge to save weight.... It will save about 30% which adds up to a lil under 7-8 lbs wieght savings for stainless steel. every little bit counts
