Ok long story short I sold my Garret T3-60-1 turbo to some guy and hes claiming it wont fit his block(B18C5) and now wants his money back....

I told him you have to shave part off the block but he won't listen help me convince him!

 

Its really dependent on the manifold too. I SFP race mani and I have a T4 60-1 and it clears by like 3 inches. But that turbo on a drag mani I think will not clear.

 

ill take how much whats specs and price?

 

What manifold does he run? That'll answer alot of questions...

 

he's got a Maxrev manifold

 

well have a max-rev with a t3/t60-1 on a prelude though.. here picture maybe it helps



is a very tight fit and you can't clock the compressor outlet to face up cause it hist the manifold, so you have to clock it to face down. That's is on an h22 max-reve manifold, not sure how much different the b series manifold is.

 

... what about rotating the turbo 180* and having the compressor on the drivers side... i have heard that works for some... (hopefully it will work for me)... but then he will have to redo his piping and dp...

Anything will work with modifications. Its not your responsibility to spoon feed anyone. As long as the turbo is in good condition, the rest is his problem. You did your part, let him do his own. No need to confince anyone, we are all grown here.

thats a good point the turbo is brand new the problem is that he's sort off a newbie maybe I should point him here

hey cheezefrog, you ever wonder why after you drop the pedal in your vid that your back rotors start to glow?? makes me wonder if your pads are dragging. did you ever fix that or anything?? i saw the vid a longggg time ago and have always wondered this.

it won't work, I try that and the turbo will stick out to high, if you look at the max-rev manifold flange it hold the turbo at an angle.

... sorry, i should have been more specific... this was meant for a b-series application...

I personally ran the T3 60-1 in my car with a b series engine and it fit for me, yes you do have to grind the **** out of the block but it will fit.
I'm assuming that the guy you sold it to has an old style max rev manifold
because about 7-8 months after the first original manifold was made they started making a manifold that fit the 60-1 in there better with the need of just the notch being trimmed off...

I would say he has two options cut the hell out of the block or mount the turbo like (Farnsrocket) a member on this forum....

my friends got a t3/60-1 with the to4s (4" inlet, 2.5" out) housing...on a SFP race manifold and it fits with tons of room. he does have the compressor housing facing the drivers side though...i think it all just depends on the manifold...the guy should have checked out if the turbo would fit on his specific setup before he bought it.

Cheezefrog, is that a custom dp or can you purchase them in that form with the cutout and all?

 

you have to notch the block with maxrev I know trut mine was notched a good amount

 

T04S with a Kiwi mani required no cutting whatsoever.

what about sandwhiching another manifold flange between manifold and head, this might make it clear the motor, but then may interfere with radiator fans. Get slim fans if its a problem.

 

I ran a t3/60-1 on my B18C5 with a Rev Hard manifold and I had to notch the block just a little bit.

Ok guys here it is a perfect example of the new stile max rev manifold where it actually allows enough room to be able to fit a 60-1 with minimal cutting...

By the way Armando is Alive!!!

Here is what it looks like without cutting anything and trying to fit a 60-1 with an old style manifold


And here is a picture of the manifold actually fitting notice that I used 2 mr.gasket manifold gaskets and a lot of shaving and It still touches the block barely!!



As far as the radiator fans go, your alsways gona have to trim those up or get new slimmer ones...

It looks like the one (00ITR #543) has in that picture...
Not really a big difference from the old one, I think the moved the flange over 1/4 of an inch and readjusted it 15 degrees down...
