For the past couple months I have been running 8 psi just fine. no problems. Then today for some reason it won't boost past 3 psi. Anyone know what could possibly cause this? My SBC-ID still works apparently, as it is reading the boost "properly" but I am unable to run at 8. I haven't changed anything, so that shouldn't be the problem. Could it be that it is hot as **** here right now? It's 102 (texas) I'm not sure how this would affect it though. Please any help you can offer would be great, I'm freaking out!

Thanks for the reply. After driving it around the block again, listening for anythign weird. It doesn't even sound like it is spooling right. Something just sounds sorta funny, almost like a slightly rapsy sound. any ideas?

Alright I'll check that next. Right now the car is still too hot to mess with. How much are wastegate gaskets and would this be a cause of my problem?

 

if the surfaces are smooth and level take you gasket off and dont use it. you'll be fine. i hope thats the problem

 

That wasn't the problem. Both gaskets are fine. I noticed that my intake tubing with the filter on the end is disconnected slightly. Could this be the problem? No pressure or vacuum or something? I don't think it would be, but at this point I'll try anything. It's too dark right now, so if anyone has suggestions, please give them!

What is the VAC on your boost and vac gauge? and check your charge pipes and for an ex leak between the head and the turbo.

Check your Pipes and Vacuum lines...You could be leaking boost...When it gets really hot out those silicon/rubber hoses connectors expand and sometimes come loose...thus causing them to pop off

 

The heat might effect the boost also.

Its just like boosting in 20 deg weather and boosting in 90 deg weather if there is a MBC there will be a differace amount of boost.

you probably blew out an intercooler connector. remove your charge piping, and check them all.

does it take forever to spool? If the Vacc reading seam higher then usuall it may be your converter.

 

what about the waste gate int holding boost because with a good enough vacum leak you wouldnt boost at all like, check all vacumm sources first then it could be a spring in the waste gate I ve seen it happen before

 

I figured it out!!!! one of the little silicone seals between the chargepipe and the intercooler had come off. I eyeballed it last night but couldn't tell because it was too dark. Got it fixed now though!!! thanks everyone : )
