Default is a boost controler needed if I have an external wastegate?

I have never quite understood this. If I have a 1 bar wastegate spring what does the boost controler do?

I am thinking that if I have a 30 psi wastegate spring I need the boost controler to regulate it anywhere from 0-30 psi

but if I plan on running at 14 psi do i only need the wastegate spring???

other way around. a one bar spring will hold one bar, unless your boost controller makes it hold more.

the wastegate I ordered has a 7 psi spring. So i should get a boost controller? or buy a higher psi spring? Looking for 14 street and 18 track psi

Just get the boost controller because you'll need it anyway to go from 14-18 psi.

yea like said above u got it slightly backwards. wastegate spring basically is the lowest you'll be able to boost, so stick with watever is the lowest you may ever wanna boost. after that the boost controller is used to raise boost levels above whatever the wastegate spring regulates

I notiice my boost controller changes the characteristics of boost overall. I didn't increase boost whatsoever but I did change the balance with the boost controller whcih I really like. Boost responds much better. Less turbo lag if you adjust accordingly.

boost controller don't just adjust boost but how boost comes on. Which is pretty nice.

i'm assuming u have an ebc that has a feature like the profec-b's balance where u can sharpen the wg response? yea several ebc have similar features that alter how the boost signal is sent to the wg thereby altering the wg response
