Default Wastegate question

This is a really dumb question but when choosing a spring for a wastegate, when it says it has a 14.2 spring in it. That means that you can only boost to 14.2 psi or that 14.2 psi is the minimum you can boost? TIA.

Default Re: Wastegate question (EF9_SiR)

The spring rate translates into the lowest boost level you can run (assuming you are not utilizing a boost controller), and once you reach the specified x.xx bar (which in this case is just below 1.0), then the w.g. will open and bleed out boost so as to prevent overboost/boost creep/spikes.

If you use a boost controller though, you can generally run more than the spring rate in the w.g. would allow alone.
