Default adding BTM = re-tune?

i want to purchase an MSD BTM. my question is, will i have to re-tune the fuel map i already have set on my AFC (hack)?

I just tuned about a month ago and i didnt plan on going back for a while. running around on a 4 degree retard kinda sucks. i would rather have the BTM so it adjusts the timing accordingly............my car sees about 4.5 psi daily, if that.

well, if you are only running 4-5 psi daily, i wouldnt even retard the timing. but if you use the btm get it tuned again on a wideband dyno and you might not have to retard the timing so much and make more power

my car is tuned for 8psi. i was saying that daily driving i only see 4.5 psi if even that much. driving around on a 4 degree retard isnt all that great and being that i dont see 8 psi everyday its pretty worthless having it retarded so much.

The best way is probably to get your car re-tuned, but if it were me and I didn't have the money to retune it, I'd just set your timing on the dizzy back to stock. Then crank the the BTM to something from 0.5 - 0.75 degrees/psi until you can get it tuned again.

definately retune. you are 4 degree retarded right now, but when you return to stock timing and use btm you will not retard 4 degree until hitting 8psi at .5 degree/1lb of boost. might not hurt, but you will constantly question any little tick or rattle while boosting.

i dont know how you guys here detonation under boost. between the turbo spooling, motor noise, exhaust and the wastegate dumping it is hard to hear. the only way i know is if i check my plugs

i agree. what i'm saying that any noise will induce paranoia or constant worry. it's like 100bucks to get dyno tuned...definately worth it to not worry about having to replace anything.

I was told, no need for BTM under 10 psi while running 93 octane. I feel like it could not hurt taking off .25 per pound for safety but they are telling me to sell it. What are your opinions? I am currently running 9-10 pounds with stock timing

it would be good to keep it just in case the car gets out of tune (ie: accidently get bad gas, temperature/humidity/elevation extreme change, etc). then you can take some timing out if needed.

wow. i never heard anyone running stock timing at that much boost. i only get 91 octane out here and i am at an elevation of about 4800ft. so all that kinda changes things for me.
