R break-in questions...
i've posted in another thread (tech) and didn't get any great answers.
i just purchased a brand new R motor, and right now i have 315 miles on it. i've been mainly taking the motor up to 4k rpm although i did zing it into vtec (up to 5k) a few times after 300 miles.
just wondering what everyone else has done, especially the guys who bought their R's new from acura...and i was wondering what the dealership recommended for break-in techniques...etc.

I replied when it was in the tech forum, and I thought my answer was great!? (j/k). Anyway, it doesn't matter much after 315 miles, the rings are more or less set, although it wouldn't hurt to change the oil again and avoid constant driving at the same rpm for a little while longer.
Man, its been awhile. I think they said not to change out the magical 'break-in' oil for 5,000 miles. They also I believe said to take it very easy(no high rpms, no hard braking, etc) for 500, and no redlining for 3,000 miles. They also said to not drive it at the same speeds for long periods of time.
Mine doesn't burn oil by the way...

I babied my first,
I enthusiastically use my second.
Some people report my second as being a strong car.
I think it's way more fun to snot it the majority of the time.

i actually decided to mill the head 20k...
and i'm running a jdm gsr ecu until i can afford hondata.
not that it has any real effect on my setup right now, but there is still a good bit of tuning needed before getting this setup to run properly...
i'm also using a p30 intake manifold and p30 TB, Comptech head, test pipe, apexi world sport exhaust.
otherwise, its stock!
