Default Best way to properly break in LS/VTEC?

Hey i've heard you should vary the rpm's by sharply accelerating and i've heard to just baby it for about 1500 miles and change the oil about every 500 miles. But what is really the right way?

Break it in like any other car. Don't full throttle and drive like a grandma for 1000 miles then your set.

It depends on how well the motor was built. A well built motor only needs about 500 miles for everything to sit right, but to be on the safe side I say 1500 miles of no vtec. Make sure you check your oil return line for leaks.

I would just do a normally break in, go for 1000 miles keeping the car under 3500rpm... oil change at 100, 500, 1000 then i consider it broken in... Latez

use non-synthetic oil
start the car up, set the timing
rev it up to 3 grand for about 15 mins (to set the rings and bearings)
then drive it without WOT and shift before 3500 rpm
after 200 kms give it one or two solid shifts (WOT) @ 4500 rpm then change the oil use non-synthetic, check the valves blah blah blah
drive it without WOT and shift before 4500
after 500 kms give it two or three solid shifts (WOT) @ 5500 and change the oil to non synthetic, check the valves timing, blah blah blah
drive it around semi-civilized but give it some WOT every know and again about 6 or 7 times to 6500
@ 1000 km's switch the oil to mobil-1 and shift at 8100

start the car with non synthetic oil, hold it at about 2,000 - 3,000 rpm until the temp gauges reads normal opperating temp. shut down let cool down and change the oil. take the car out driving, drive in 2nd gear and give it full throttle from 1,500rpm to 5,000 rpm do this for about 20 miles. after this drive the car normal(not beating on it) gradually rev the engine farther as you put more miles on it, remembering to always vary engine speed for the first 100 miles(stay off the highway during this time) at 200 miles chage the oil again, then at 500, then at 1,000. your next oil change should be with synthetic oil. this is the way I have found works best with all honda engines I have built, that is for daily driver cars that need to last 100,000 miles. If it is for race through it on the dyno and tune it, the first couple of pulls it mayblow some smoke (this is normal) after it is off the dyno it's broke in and ready for the track and probavly a rebuild in a couple months.

break it in this way and if it was built right you will be trouble free for a long time
