My friend "shamoo" on HT is waiting about 5000. I think he's an idiot, but that's what he wants to do to be safe, he spent like $10K on that motor.

Wait about 100 miles before realy getting on it.The rings will have set long before then.Don't romp on it constanly and don't hold rpms steady for very long for the 1st 500 miles or so.
The only real reason to wait that long is to allow the bearings to get their wear pattern (each one will break in and wear differently).

I've pretty much got an idea on the time intervals when breaking in the motor....along with the oil change intervals....but what about the valves? I've heard that you gotta have them readjusted about 1000? Anything else?
