Default $6000-7000 what to do?

i am planning on ordering a b20($1000 with shipping) and getting a gsr trans(99 usdm $800). after shipping and install of the motor and trans i will have spent $2400. thus leaving me with $3600.
i am going to upgrade the clutch and flywheel ($600 ?). so i would have $3000 left to get a turbo kit. would it be cheaper to buy a kit or buy all the parts for a kit seperate? in the summer i will be co-oping again anf i will have more cash flow then, so i want to be able to upgrade and eventually run 20+lbs.

how much boost can i run on stock internals of a b20?
please provide any and all suggestions. i am trying to plan all this out and be boosted by the end of spring. the biggest thing is that i dont want to waste a lot of money on parts now that i will need to swap out in the summer to run 20+lbs.

all comments welcome and appriciated.

kit would be cheaper and less headaches than a custom kit.

I would recommend NA build for that money..
since you will end up putting more than 6-7k if you are gonna go FI..

unless you are just boosting 8psi... In that case, you will be just as happy with NA build and it is more reliable...

get a fully built LS block, 84mm pistons, sleeves, pistons, rods for like 3000 - 4000 and start the car off right especially since your going to put more money in it this summer. you'll be 1000x more happy 6 months from now.

use the money to bribe a corrupt admin (falcon ) to upgade your stsus to "Honda-tech member"

seriouslly tho, spend the money to build the block, then save up for a custom turbo kit cuz i dont think theres any good kits that could take advantage of your built block.

where is loveland, oh. I am in lovely Youngstown, at one time we were the proud owners of the title "Highest Murder Rate per Capita"!
why not a b18b (2k), that leaves 4-5k for a badass turbo???

later

The best money you could spend is $20.00 for the book "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell.

save it for a downpayment for a house

save it for a downpayment on a new and bling bling car.

save it for the days ahead, for the unknown, savie it until you know you can spend it.

otherwise enjoy

IMO, it would be better to get a B18b. The B20 w/stock sleeves doesn't hold up under F/I very well (so I've been told). Plus, you will have more headaches getting things to fit right. I'd say go B18b, then you can sleeve it and go with a 84-85mm bore later.

would i have problems finding parts for the b20 such as sleeves. pistons, and rods? I am probably just going to build up the bottom end of the b20, put it in my car, then when i sell my lsvtec($2500), i will buy the turbo.

What is the best? Cheaper/performs better? The B20 or B18b?
I have found the B20 with gsr trans and shipping 1800
and i also found a complete b18B swap for 1500

which would be the best thing to do here? if i wanted to get the same tq from the b18 as the b20 i would have to bore it out and that would cost more than 300 wouldnt it?

if anyone on here has had their motor sleeved, how much were the sleeves, and how much was installation?

please help... confusion sucks

Use the 3-4k to build the block. Sleeves, rods, pistons.

Then boost it this summer.

$1000 for ECU
$2400 for a custom turbo kit
$400 for Clutch
$500 for some MEATY tires.

i have decided what i am going to do.. thank you to everyone i am going to build the block, then i am going to put on a custom turbo set up over the summer

there are two things that i have left to decide on:

Should I get the complete ls swap for 1500?

Or should I get the b20 /gsr trans mission for 1800? this swap is everything but the shift linkage and axels.

Is the b20 /gsr trans going to be worth the extra 300 once i boost in it in the summer? And at this point should i get the b20 or the b18b?

Screw the b20 get the LS swap and sleeve the block, run 84mm and you have a 2.0 thats stronger. If your goal is only 250whp then **** just run the stock ls with a turbo. If you have 7k to spend right now get the LS swap $1500 and build the bottom end and you will have plenty of money for a badass custom kit.

Btw I grew up in Loveland off Wards Corner and then moved to Mason during Highschool.
