if you are rebuilding it i prolly would get the bottom end ballanced. everything should be close to spec but it wouldn't hurt.

powerband, nup - wouldnt make peciveable(sp?) difference in the power band.

that is dictated by cams...

if you are running big hi-rpm cams, then a micro polished or 'nitrided' or cyro treated crank will help you not break stuff...

i have not touched my crank, but when i do the rebuild with forged rods and hi-comp pistons, i will be polishing it and nitriding it, PLUS balancing the entire reciprocating assembly...

When I got my block built I got the whole bottom end balanced and my crankshaft polished. I decided to do this because IB was taking part my bottom end anyways. If you are rebuilding your block then it will be worth the $100 to do it. The only way the crank will produce power is if its a different crank or knife edged to reduce weight.

Never seen or heard of a dyno comparison between polished cranks.

However, I am now selling my b20/vtec before I could ever put it into my civic so I will never know how great she runs.

I got screwed over for a tranny so my funds are running low. $1400 to be exact. If I sell off my motor and mods I will have just enough for an itr swap. You can read up about my loss using the search function. I would love to install my motor into my hatch but life is a windy road to go through.

Here is a link to my motor for sale. I lowered the price to $3900 local pick or $200-$300 for shipping depending on where you live. I am negotiable for my extra parts as well. I will have pics up within the next few days.
