its an ls/vtec in a coupe.............. hey my vtec isnt engaging..... is it due to the VSS being bad

My sensor on my wiring harness got some corosion in it. If that's your problem, you can find a another plug, or throw some coca-cola on it. It will eat away at the funk and serve as a temporary fix
Hmm, I'm throwing code 17 too. But, my speedo works and my VTEC still works. Although I'm almost sure that my speedo is off.
change ur sockets..... water or other fluids might have cause corrosion and no contact is made.... code 17 or bad vss+no vtec
Make sure the wires are tight on the harness. I had one of the wires come loose and same thing happened to me. Also make sure harness is connected (on differential side).

it was the alternator sp sensor fuse under the dash. it cause my CEL to come on and my speedometer to not work.
Problem: o2 sensor wires were cut and touching the ground of the car.

bad vss = no vtec

I have been having the same problen , replaced VSS and it still jumps and works half the time. If it was the alternator fuse wouldn't it not work if it was blown?
