need help difference between b18a and b18b
Ok i tried the civic forum and the tech forum so now i am turning to you guys. I have been in the market for a b18b block that i can have sleeved and build for turbo. Yesterday i got offered a bare b18a block w main caps for 50 bucks. I don't knoww much about the b18a so i am asking what the difference between the b18a and b18b? Also can i still add a b16a2 head or will i have to run an older b16 head. thanks.
so will it work exactly the same? i heard something about the b18a being different cause it has a breather box. Also, will i be able to use a b16a2 head? thanks
My understanding is that the blocks were essentially the same except for the mounts. I think the driver’s side mount is different, but that you can change the part that bolts to the block on that side and it will fit. I don't want to say this to be absolutely true, but maybe someone can confirm for sure.
THey are identicle. I blew by b18b and replaced it with a b18a block. Only difference I saw was some type of a coolant sensor above where the oil feed is on the A block....im assuming the b18a head doesnt have a coolant sensor on it like the b18b's do.
