Default how risky is this turbo?

i have a d16z6 that is in tip top shape. oil has been changed every 3k miles with synthetic and doesn't burn any. basically stock otherwise. how risky would putting a turbo running from let's say 5psi is the least i would go and 8 psi is the most. i am not looking for it to last a long time but i don't want it to start shoving rods out right away. thinking of going with a t25 "junkyard" turbo. let me know what you think......and swapping is not an answer unless you find me a b16 for 1500. oh yeah i am on a sort of budget

First, you never said how many miles are on your engine, but as far as the junkyard turbo goes, pushing 5 psi should be no problem, go to 8 psi and you should still be ok as long as its tuned. For the amount of boost, a vafc and a hacked map sensor with dsm 450cc injectors should be perfect. If you have access to welding tools and can custom fab stuff, you could put together a kit with intercooler for about $1000 that would kill the greddy kit that doesn't come with the intercooler and costs $500 more. If you want to go NA with the d16z6, IM me.

Very well said. I'm running the GReddy kit on my D16 Z6 w/o and I/C. Stock psi from the kit is 4. I've been told that you can go to 6psi w/o anything else being upgraded. Other than a clutch of course.

I say save up for a swap first bro......then turbo your B16 later....

or if you want quick HP for now.....squeeze that d16z6.....

oh yeah sorry, the motor has 150k on it. runs great and no smoke. i wouldn't mind going na. only if i could get some decent power. i don't think juice is the answer for me though. i am not really wanting to race. i just want some decent power. i would like to run 7-8 psi daily. i would deffinately make sure it is tuned good. thinking about just putting it on this motor till it blows and building a d16 block till then. i mean i know some people say that a d16 is a waste of money but for me a body kit and huge spoiler is a waste of money. so swapping is not really something i am looking to do now. i want to try something diff first. plus to replace a d series is alot cheaper if it blows
