I was chilling in my car listening to music in my car, it was on, then it just sputtered and my rpms dropped 0, so it was basically off, I turned it off, tried it again, and still nothing, just makes that chirping sounds, like its starting... but it just doesnt fully turn on. Need help guys, it wont turn on and im at my college....help!!

Im thinking maybe I just need a jumpstart, but if the car was on when it died, it should have been powered by the alternator, i checked my spark plugs, wires, everything seems to be in order, not sure what to do now, help!

Does the engine turn over or when you turn the key nothing happens?

 

im not sure what you mean by turn over....im not to car savey at the moment.

edit: It just makes a sound like, its trying to turn on, and sometimes it even shakes like its about to turn but it just doesnt turn on.

FYI - campus security should have a car that can come out and jump you for free. If you have 20th century insurance, they'll jump you or tow (up to 7 miles) for free.

edit: how many miles on the alternator now? total on the car?

edit: I dont think the alternator has ever been changed, the car has about 120k

edit: that's still a young alternator (for japanese) then.

edit2: oh, btw, calling campus security will prolly be faster than going thru AAA if you've got somewhere to go...

yes...general/ safety recalls will always be honored for free by honda. TSB's no. Call before you go and mention what you want to have done w/ the recall # in hand. They might ask for your VIN number which they would run (hopefully) and if the previous owner already did them...they (honda service) would tell you and would save you a trip.

TSB = techical service bulletin. This is what mechanics (honda and others) will use to help them diagnose problems and fix things right.
