Default boost leak test wont pressure past 10psi

I recently ran a boost leak test on my car and i didnt find any major leaks. The only odd thing i noticed is that the guage wont go past 10 psi. I have an aem digital guage. Any ideas?
Stock motor s2000 with 33k miles.

Thanks

I am just assuming here since relevant information wasn't given, but you have your boost gauge reference hooked up after the throttle body correct? Then you proceeded to pressure check your charge piping with the throttle blade closed correct? Finally, you don't have anything like camshafts pulled to hold all intake valves closed, correct? Kinda get where I am going with this?

yes after the throttle body and even with the throttle open it didn't build anything. i never had to keep the valves closed when i did a boost leak test. it always built pressure in all of my other cars.

that's the first thing that popped into my head. you're never gonna be able to build pressure if the valves are at their overlap point.

Why is the engine itself in the compression check, are you not just checking for leaks in your piping/intercooler??

I personally but a cap in the throttle body end and pressurize the pipe coming off the turbo to test the system and have no issues putting 30psi in the system like that

Yea im just making sure none of the pjpes are leaki g and they are not. Its weird because it builds up to 10lbs very quickly and just stops there.
