Default vaccum what should it be at?

I have a friend with a t3 and his boost gauge shows vaccum, and i've talked to other people and so do theirs. My car just stays on 0 and it can go down to like -20 but it doesn't. I guess i dont understand the whole vaccum concept. Does everybody have it and my car just sucks or what?
BTW this is a turbonetics t3/t4 with drag mani. if that makes anything diff.

Your boost gauge is probably not hooked up right. It needs to be hooked up to the intake manifold after the throttle body. Try teeing in with the brake booster or fuel pressure regulator.

sounds like you have your boost gauge tapped into a charge pipe before the throttle body... just tee it off a source after the throttle body (fuel pressure regulator line would be a good choice) and you should see your missing vacuum readings...
