Default Ball Joint into LCA

How do you reseat the ball joint back into the LCA? Do you just use the nut to pull it back in to reseat?

Thanks.

Yes, draw it very tight and line up the cotter pin hole. Never back off to align the hole. I don't know the spec but 50 ft/lbs seems right or better.

My Haynes manual says 40 ft-lb.

FYI, the Honda-brand ball joints have a double-drilled shank so the cotter pin will always line up. The Moogs do not.

Cool, always best to get the torque right.

.............are we supposed to magically know what car this is for?

Usually you use a press or rent a C clamp type style from an autoparts place.

95 Honda Accord EX.

So use tightening action of nut to seat it completely or use C clamp?
Nut obviously is easier then buying/renting a tool.

Will it damage the ball joint threaded bolt via stretching the bolt?

To pull it into the LCA, that's fine.

Obviously, you can't use the nut to seat the ball joint into the spindle - THAT you need a press or clamp for.

if you have the spindle off, you can simply take a big socket the size of the ball joint and hammer it in. However their should be a c-clip that prevents it from being backed out.
Are you installing a new ball joint or did the ball joint pop out?
