Pickle Fork Good or Bad ? ?
Ok i have a pickle fork but in my book and from what i have been told its better to use the ball joint seperator that is in the book. The one in the book i have seen before but cannot find locally, its like a to parralel flat plates of metal one with a notch and on the other side joining the to peices of metal is a bolt or threaded rod that you use to tighten the two together. This pulls down on the lower arm and pushes on the stud from undernieth, that way you arent prying against the balljoint..
So i guess my question is, is it ok to use the pickle fork since i need to get this done or is it a must to order and weight forever to get the tool, in the meantime leaving my car in parts.

If you're installing new ball joints use the pickle fork. If you want to reuse the ball joints get the ball joint seperator. When using the ball joint seperator leave the nut on the bottom bolt to protect the threads.
I'd try mac tools or snap. You won't find this at autozone or honda.
I use a 2 jaw pulley puller to seperate ball joints. I had to find a longer bolt to make it work, but it does the trick.

On all my Hondas I've been able to use a small 3-jaw or 2-jaw gear puller. The only time I couldn't get that to fit was on a former '89 Saab where the balljoint stud points towards the outer CV joint.
