Will not rev over 4,000rpms
So I boosted my b18a1 in my civic swap and bought a chipped ecu to the specs of my swap but the car won't rev over 4,000 rpms. The chip does not have a rev limiter. Any ideas?
Sounds like it might b in limp mode. What kind of ecu do u have? U really need to get tuned ASAP! With the basemap "chip " that u got, u really shouldn't even be trying to hit boost. Please don't drive the car anymore than u have to till u get it tuned!
Ok how do I bypass limb mode if possible and I'm running a p06 chipped and base mapped for my swap. I'm not really wanting to spend a ton of money getting my car tuned cuz the dyno rates are not cheap around here an my car us just a toy, not looking to use on the track
Lol sounds like you want to blow your motor . Get a missing link for your map sensor should help . You can always step on the gas pedal slowly you'll build boost
Tuning isn't about how you want to use the car. It doesn't matter if you're building a track beast, or a grocery getter for your friend's father's cat's sister. It's about having a car that runs correctly, runs safely, and will continue to run for a long time. Get your car tuned, end of discussion.
Thanks for the replies. I was thinking when my ecu was chipped for my swap specs it would run decent, but not up to full performance. It sucks cuz I will have to haul the car to the nearest dyno that is 2 hours away. I'm a novice at this build.

Either the chip wasn't flashed properly, the bin file is corrupted, the bin file wasn't properly setup for your motor, or you have a serious issue with your ecu, wiring, or something else.
Also, if you're pushing more than 10 PSI, your MAP sensor might be freaking out and putting the engine in limp.
What's up with this sudden influx of shitty basemaps, and ignorant people thinking they're OK to drive around on?

Search base maps in this forum and about half the discussions ended up with the OP damaging their motor before they took the advice given to have it professionally tuned....a cheap setup or a 20k setup is still a paper weight without a tune
A missing link is an out-dated piece of hardware, and a great way to blow up an un-tuned motor. A basemap is not a tune. Take the car to a professional, and shell out the few bucks to avoid destroying more than a few dollars worth of hardware.

A basemap is only meant to be used to start up the car to check for proper operation, leaks, etc.
It is to be used to be able to drive the car gently to a tuner to have it properly tuned.
under no circumstances is it meant to be driven around on like normal, getting into boost, beating on the car, etc.
that's a good way to damage a motor beyond a useable or repairable condition.
