Default Car hits 5000rpm like a brick wall

Hey guys, i don't know whats wrong with my car at the moment, so im after a little help.
Well the story is my car is a D16 turbo running 10psi on a gt28r tuned with hondata s100 and using the stock map sensor. But just recently when i push the car, as soon as it hits 5000rpm it shuts off and bounces as if 5000rpm is the rev limiter.

Just wondering what could be the cause of this? could it be the ecu?

Let me know your opinions.

Thanks

do you have a wideband?
if not get one on there and see if it leans out
just to eliminate things is there a boost cut or full throttle launch?

Yeah, doesn't sound just like a lean condition....sounds more like a boost cut or some type of programmed rev limit. Do you have launch control at 5k and a malfunction VSS maybe? Take it to someone that can take a look at the program...it's your best bet.

yeah thats whats confusing me, its just been tuned by a reputable tuner about a month ago, it was running just fine revs all the way, but just recently it started to stop and bounce at 5000~6000rpm and nah the s100 does not have a launch control so that couldn't be the problem, could it be a internal wastegate issue?

bump for answers... i was told it could be a faulty map sensor and getting a 3 bar map sensor would help... could this be the problem?

i had the same problem. what my shop noticed was the starter was sparking EVERYWHERE when running it hard. that somehow was causing the car to literally feel like it was hitting a fuel cutoff at about 5-6k rpm.

your best bet is to log it and find out whats happening if you log it you'll know if its boost cut or maybe one of your injectors are **** and stuck open im just throwing guess's at you.

You can... but he may have a small amount of fluctuation. His gauge may not be reading the same as the ecu is. I would recommend turning the boost down and driving it to see if that solves the issue.

Throwing a 3 bar on of course will require a completely new tune.

dont trust your gauge. they never read the same as the ecu. even a slight change in temp. can cause just a small enough spike in boost to hit the fuel cut.

easiest thing to do is turn the boost down a couple lbs and see if thats the problem.

Yep thanks for all the replies guys, what i did today was turned the boost down to 8.5psi and its now redlining normally, so it should just be the map sensor, which ill be grabbing a new 3bar tomorrow, but does it need a retune? or just wire it in and go back to 10psi?

how much boost are you running and what is your boost cut set at? Have you tried to turn down the psi and see if that helps?
