How do you know it needs to be balanced?

what exact problems are you having with it?
im wondering the same, how do you know that it needs to be just rebalanced?
does it have alot of shaft play?

(im guessing that the shaft play is making you think its out of balance.)

Well here is the thing, excesice vibrations from the impeller being out of ballance will lead to shaft play(the constant wobling will lead to worn out bearing and such). But the thing is, reagular wear over time will allso cause the shaft to have play. Best thing to do is, if you have shaft play in excesive amounts, go ahead and get it rebuilt.

Yes its better to have it rebuilt because likely its not JUST a "balancing problem". I just had my turbo rebuilt because the compressor was leaking oil "tiny ammount" into the intake stream, and as it turns out besides the usual bearings and seal replacement that had to over boar something and put a over-sized bearing in because it scratched the center section.....

Leave turbos to the turbo experts I say

actaully,im putting together a t3 witha t4 housing and blade, the turbo its self does not need rebuilding, its nice and tight,i just need one last seal to complete the process, then im going to get ir rebalanced with the new t4 blade on it.

well if you are assembling the unit you will still need to get it balanced.
I am sure that you know this though.

Only places available to balance at that speed are turbo shops. Very specialized.
