Default shaft play/slop in turbo spindle?

i read a post once that said that even though the shaft has some play in it (from worn bearings) it's still ok to use, as lond as the blades don't hit the housing. is this true to an extent? Are the worn bearings what causes it to be so loud over time?

Because of the nature of the bearing, most will have play in one direction, but not all. You can still use one with shaft play if it isnt hitting the housing, however, you will not get full performance and it may use some oil.
