Default Rebuilding a turbo

Can this be done with simple tools? I have all the parts but i have also heard that something needs to be balanced. Has anyone done their own turbo rebuild? How did it turn out and what did you have to do?

Thanks

I think there is a kit you can buy online for about $100 that has all you need to do a turbo rebuild...forgot where the link is though

You can replace the seals and whatnot yourself, but I'm pretty sure the balancing of the shaft isn't really a DIY kind of thing.

Well, if i just replaced the seals and bearings, will the shaft need to be balanced again, considering it was balanced from the factory and i'll still be using the same shaft.

They don't balance the shaft, they balance the wheels.

Hence if you want to keep the proper balance, Just mark the compressor wheels position relative to the shaft.

This is assuming no damage has occured to the turbine or compressor wheel.
