Default MFactory LSD Install Question

I'm in process of re-assembling a S80 transmission with a MFactory Metal Plate LSD. To the best of my knowledge, I have the bearings and ring gear installed properly; however, first gear is touching the ring gear bolts. I attached a few photos to try to show the space between the ring gear and the case, first gear touching the ring gear bolts and the assembled LSD unit.

This is my first time in a FWD transmission, so any guidance will be appreciated.

The 1st gear will lift up when the shaft is in position with the top bearing clip locked but we have still had to grind the bolt heads down on some of the plate LSDs to get the clearance right.

Clip the countershaft in place in the case (leave mainshaft and forks out) and tighten the case down with a couple of bolts. Use clay to check the clearance between 1st and RG bolts. Best way to check without a window case (should still use clay to double check).

Synchrotech\Aquafina:

Thank you for the tips. Once the countershaft was clipped in, first gear cleared the ring gear bolts.

No problem. Are you going to have this out at VIR in October by any chance?

No. My last track day event will be with TrackDaze at the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point. This transmission and a B18C will be going into the CRX over winter, and I hope to make it to VIR next year.

Sounds like your top countershaft has play and needs to be replaced.
