Hondata / Ecu Tuning on a stock R?
Hey all you gurus... got a quick question.
Would there be any significant gains using a Hondata s200 system on a relatively stock 01 R ?? Reasons for this question... I like the stock drivability and clean emissions, but am interested in how much power can be gained from ecu tuning. I realize that the stock exhaust (header, cat) is a restriction, so this will have to be addressed, but would a Hondata system be a logical first step?
(I'm a bit of a computer geek, and like the idea of plugging a laptop in, tuning, and datalogging
)
TIA

With adjustable camgears, programmable ECU and a little "blue printing" I beleive a stock engine could reach around 175 whp.
I got that without cam gears or blue printing.. just tuning comptech box/filter/jdm4-1/2.5 cat and exhaust
car accelerates great.. hp gains are everywhere..
not worth the money on stock header/cat... get that first.. then tune it

warren is almost at 190whp with stock cam gears, stock ecu and stock blueprinted motor.

thanks for the replys... just as I thought
the header/cat/exhaust first, then ecu tuning....
then cams?
then injectors...
then BOOST
hahaha
all in due time I guess.

Header/cat/exhaust (no real tuning needed)
Camgears
Then tunning
...**** not enought power...
camshaftss / valve train / injectors
More tuning
...fu$% still not enought...
higher compression
More tuning
...could be better...
Final drive / flywheel
...Ok now we are getting there...
Etc, etc...Have fun
