Default h22a4? is it worth turboing?

I found a whole h22a4 needs to be redone cause the bearing in the bottom end went... not a bad deal for $200 as far as i see. But i heard the a4s arent the most coveted to build... why and why not? or is it just like any other and will it do ok? I plan on sleeving and the whole deal so no worries on that but should i pass on the a4?

The only reason people don't like the A4 is because it has open deck sleeves. The H22A has closed deck and can handle more boost. If you're going to sleeve and build it, then go for it. My friend has a completely stock A4 making 400 whp without any problems on a 6262.

Stock long block? Or just the sleeves?

Stock block with dual valve springs and retainers in the head. That's it.
