Default First time on dyno, horrible results, graph inside

So the mods are

b16a turbo -

t28 turbo
log style manifold
custom downpipe
cx racing ic + bov
no name external wastegate
deatsch 310lph fuel pump
deatsch 550cc injectors

car only made 195whp//139tq @ 8psi

heres the hp graph (i took 2 pics, hp n tq, if u need the tq lemme know ill try to re-up it)

was making peak boost (8) at 6300rpm, and it would drop to about 6psi after

tuner said its my manifold causing the lag (that it should be spooling up right away) and maybe a leak in my manifold//wastegate somehwere

he suggest i get an electronic boost controller that can program boost by rpm so he can set it to hold 8psi from 6300 to redline and possibly net me up to 240whp (now we're talking numbers i like to hear)

1. what do you guys think
2. what EBC should i look into with a boost by rpm feature??

thanks

Sure you don't have boost leak? Did you log boost on dyno?

Yeah, I would expect full boost much sooner. I hit 10psi before 4k rpms with an LS and SC34. I would look at your waste gate not functioning properly, or perhaps your bov leaking. Also IC piping and couplers for leaks.

I have cut an old bike tube and streched in onto the charge pipe where it connects to the TB, and streched the other end onto the turbo intake where the filter goes to pressurize and check for leaks.

well its only a t28 turbo.. thats rather small

also, if its a true log mani then they start to get restrictive past 6k rpms.

What software?
Theres the PWM boost solonoid from xenocron.com.. but certain software can control it.

Change up your turbo to something that wont fall on its *** after 6k
get a real wastegate, cuz even if it holds now, it wont in the future.

what size is the exhaust after the downpipe?

theres too many factors for getting poor results

That's a boost leak. Perhaps a leak between manifold/turbo or somewhere else. But if its just a GT28.. don't expect much..

People, don't get confused between GT28 and GT2860RS. That is a different turbocharger with different lbs/min flowrate.

the electronic boost controller idea you have is just a bandaid. figure out where your boost/ pre turbo exhaust leak is. also like others said make sure the waste gate actuator rod is real tight.

Aside from the fact that the otherwise cheap parts are hurting this car immensely, for 8psi this seems pretty accurate for the turbo in question and the fact that its a B16backwards engine.

just an update

i paid a shop to put together my turbo kit and street tune the car. they did. i blew a piston 2 weeks later.

brought it back to the shop, they said the piston went because one of my injectors wasnt firing properly. so they put in the deatsch 550cc, new piston, new rings all around, hone cylinders, headgasket etc etc

got the car back a week ago. they put a rev cut at 5000rpm told me to drive the car around 500kms, do an oil change then go for my dyno tune. (i noticed an excessive amount of oil consumption and the shop said "well its not like we bored out the cylinders and did a full out rebuild, its normal if its burns a bit of oil but it should get better with some more kms")

dyno tune was on friday at 600kms on the motor. last night, a piston blew again at some point during a highway drive, 700kms on the motor

shop's fault?

this is why i always do the work myself, at least if it explodes i got nobody to blame but myself.

^ ya me too. I can't imagine having to pay someone to tune my car and have them pop it twice.

Those number aren't too bad. I run a peakboost ram manifold with 2.5 DP Hi power exhaust on a turbonetics turbo T3T04B vtrim and I only made 237Whp and 193 LBS of torque @ 8 psi. Thinking about getting 3" Dp and exhaust and bigger turbo maybe a different tuner. I heard people have very good numbers with garrett 57 trim.

Next time i build a motor without measuring for a customer, i'ma say this because its "OK" by standards..................................

Its not ok..If you blew a piston out, chances are? You needed to bore out because the bore wasn't straight...do yourself a favor, rebuild it(properly) And find another shop.

What he said!! I'd be pissed. Then again this is why I don't let anyone touch my car. I tuned my car myself, then went to dyno to get numbers. I know you can't get timing perfect w/out a dyno, but I run conservative timing anyway. So many shops around here wanna be performance shops and what they are doing is practicing on your car.
