Same WASTEGATE , different MANIFOLD = different BOOST ?
hey guy..i been looking for this but couldn't get a straight answer...
i would really appreciate if i can get it right, 'cuz im going to hit dyno this week.
I used to have a the rev hard manifold (old version) with small green (TIAL) green 35/38mm. in the dyno showed 7 psi.
like 2 weeks ago I replace the Rev manifold, for a muetek manifold...
and went to dyno it again and the tuner couldn't go over 5psi...(same wastegate)
is that posible?
now i just got a new large yellow spring (10psi) but would be the same?
less boost because of the manifold?
im using a AEM tru boost controller, but cant go over the 90% duty..
(using the BC i only hit 9 psi max with the "5 psi spring"....)
my plan is to use 7-10 daily and hit 14-16 track with 101 octane
BTW my setup is:
b16 83mm
turbonetics .60
9.1 cp's
AEM tru boost control
DP 3" all the way..
thnkx in advance.

its true the same wastegate on a different manifold can yield different results, its common practice not to go more than double the WG spring so if your goals are 16psi then u would want at least an 8psi spring.

Re: Same WASTEGATE , different MANIFOLD = different BOOST ? (xyzalvarez)
yes it could be different.
Wastegate placement will affect boost pressure inside manifold.
The shape of the mani will affect the pressure as well. The longer ramhorn manis will have less pressure than a short log.
This is assuming you don't have any leaks - back to basics.

so it can be different boost then...thnkx for the info
i didnt have a leak before and i just replaced the manifold...can check it again thou..
another thing:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by mike@synapse motorsport »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> its common practice not to go more than double the WG spring so if your goals are 16psi then u would want at least an 8psi spring.</TD></TR></TABLE>
would be wise to installl the new spring ( big yellow 10.psi) to keep 10psi daily (91 gas) and 14-16 psi with (101 oct) ?
