Icon2 ep3 bouncing off limiter

Hi Guys,
As you can probably tell, I'm new here to the forum and have come to you with a problem I'm hoping you can solve. My 03 EP3 is revving at 7k without touching the throttle. It's a long story, but I damaged my tps when installing my clubrsx intake manifold and skunk2 70mm throttle body. The thing was falling apart over time, so when it started revvign at the limiter, I thought the tps finally just went bad. Bought a new one, installed it, Same problem.

Finally a buddy suggested to unplug the battery for a few hours and reset the ECU. I tried that, but it's still bouncing off the limiter with no throttle input.
Please help!
Regards,
Josh

PS. Silvia is my car's name..... And this is Silvia the silver Si

+1...

Assuming no check engine codes are popping up?

Disconnect the throttle cable and cruise control cable completely. See what happens. Is the gas pedal stuck?

Unless you took your throttle body apart and put it back together wrong, it can't be too much other than the cable holding it open. When its open it revs, when its closed, it doesn't rev, its pretty simple. Even a messed up IACV won't rev it to the limiter.

Make sure throttle body closes under its own power. Maybe the return spring is broken or something.

I haven't been able to pull any codes off yet. It's unsafe to drive.. I killed my brakes on the 10 mile journey back home it was so bad. Has anyone had experience with skunk2 thotte boddies and bwr tps's? I've tried resetting the ECU by leaving the battery unplugged over night. It still does it. Maybe the dead battery that's in it has something to do with it (I accidentally left the overhead light on one night.) Any other suggestions?

Is it the same as "relearning" the ECU? AKA, unplug it for a few hours thenplug it back in?

No. This thread explains how to calibrate a TPS: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/adjusting-tps-1498837/

I agree with what was said above though about taking the cable off and seeing if it still does it. Seems dumb but it's the most likely culprit.

Ya think?

Next time take your car to a shop if you decide to add any more aftermarket parts.. this is obviously out of your league.

Oh and $10 says throttle cables aren't adjusted right.

I will undo the cables tomorrow to see if it does anything. I don't see why it would, as there is an acceptable amount of slack. Secondly, I'm slightly confused as to HOW I adjust the tps until I get the correct voltage readings; the tps has slotted holes, which correspond with screw holes in my throttle body. No matter what I do, the spring is still compressed/the little hourglass shape is turned maybe 30* from where it is at rest.

Hopefully I was better able to explain what's going on

You move it back and forth in the range the slots allow until the voltage reads ~0.45v when the throttle body is closed and 5.0v (I think it's 5.0v but I can't remember for sure, see linked thread or service manual) when wide open.

I have no idea what you're trying to say here but it doesn't sound good:

To start: What are you talking about with "little hourglass shape"? What spring are you talking about?

The little hourglass shape I'm referring to is the slot that the bar from the throttle body goes into on the tps....
This:

That is how the "hourglass shape" (HGS) sits normally. When I put the tps on the "throttlebody shaft" (TBS) to where the holes line up, the HGS is rotated about 30* counterclockwise from where it is in the pic. Hopefully that will sufficiently explain the message I'm trying to convey.

On a side note to thank you for your (the forum's) help. To keep you coming back, here's a little treat:

Ok, so after looking at it thouroughly, I discovered a srew had come loose in the skunk2 throttle body, which was wedging the throttle open a little bit, causing my problem.
Thank you all so much.
