Specs:

Motor: B18c5
Turbo: Precision 3431E
Turbo mani: UGR cast manifold
Feed line: 3an with .070 restrictor
Drain: 10an
Oil: Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30

Now that we got that out the way. I have been having issues with blowing smoke on cold starts or if its been sitting for a bit. While looking over the car to pinpoint the issue I noticed that when I took off the feed line the oil was all the way to the top. Which is bizarre because my oil is not full to the point it should backup into the turbo like that. Once i pulled the line and took the picture some dumbass came buy trying to sell me a new home alarm for 10 minutes. when i came back to my car as you can see in one of the pictures below all the oil drained back into the oil pan just by taking off the feed line. So I’m looking for a possible reason for this to happen so I can fix it.

Kinds crazy. Check to make sure the drain isnt clogged up.

 

It has been doing this for awhile. the drain is not clogged. i had a barb fitting coming off the turbo initially when i first noticed this issue then i switch to the setup in the pics. So the drain line is new. Oil pressure is normal. Right between 75-80 psi on cold start. Its almost like there is pressure in the system causing it to backup since it drains like that with the feed line off.

 

you need a .065 restrictor with that kind of oil pressure

 

mmmm.. not really. not to solve that kind of a symptom. If the last thing you changed before it caused this problem was the return line, then it may be time to check that return line yet again. something isn't right.

 

correct my restrictor isnt the cause of the problem. i changed the return line due to this issue. the only other thing i can think of is to take off the oil pan and get another 10an fitting welded on. my current one is pretty high alread but it could be about 5mm higher than what it is now.

 

I am not the SHODAN but i would think if the oil return fitting in the tank of the oil pan is below the actual oil level in the pan the oil could not possiblly drain the same speed as is sopposed to when the bung is in the most highest position like it should be, know what im saying >? does oil come out when u take the drain line off ? its backing up for some reason ......

 

is there too much oil in the motor ?

 

I would check the return line see if its above the oil line in the oil pan

 

This may sound very stupid but I'm thinking maybe there's pressure in the block from a clogged crank case breather? I mean if it drains when you open it up it releases pressure?
