OK i was changing my spark plugs in my 94 Del Sol Vtec. While installing the new ones i noticed that the 1st plug(closest to passenger side) wasn't catching thread. I then noticed that the spark plug i pulled out was bigger than the one im putting in. The rest of the plugs caught thread fine? IS this normal?

 

??? Sounds like someone stripped out the hole and tapped it for an oversized spark plug ???

If so, I'd be looking for a new cylinder head.

a del sol is just a different body style civic to a T.

so no it isn't normal nor is it good.

 

you bought someone else's trouble...all spark plugs should be the same. good luck!

 

This was a "didn't even have to ask the question to know it was wrong" kind of post.

 

Your situation is certainly not ideal but if you can find a plug like the odd ball that came out then simply replace it and you'll be good to go. Otherwise as was already mentioned you would need a new cylinder head to fix it.

 

Yeah i figured they either just put a large plug in there or the helicoil came out with the plug =/ Think i'm just going to sell the car before more problems arise. Thanks guys.

 

Hi everyone. I've posted before asking about spark plug sizes but i guess that thread was deleted or i would have posted there. I finally got pics of the spark plugs. If anyone could tell me a quick fix or some options that i have it would be appreciated.



The top plug is clearly bigger around and has carbon build up like a ****. I'm sure this plug is one of the reasons my car doesn't run as well as it should.
